Just got back from New Zealand guys and WOW what an awesome show and awesome weekend!

The night was beyond a sell-out, 4000+ people, a tonne of celebrities ringside from Jonah Lomu to all the stars of NZ TV, sports celebs and more. It made the news on THREE commercial TV stations and was replayed last night on TV2 which is equivalent to Channel 10.

The fights:

PAUL SLOWINSKI KO'd ANDREW PECK in round one:
The big Polak from South Australia was in great spirits for the whole trip and came to the ring looking scarily pumped. He was just huge and proud and powerful against a very mellow Andrew Peck.
Peck began with the hard "Pearl Harbour Leg Kicks" ... I had said in the press conference that it is believed Andrew has the hardest kicks going around the Oceania -- but wait till you sample some of Paul's leg kicks! Well, Paul kicked Andrew back, then chopped at each other for a few seconds and then decided to box at it, so we didn't get the leg kick battle we had hoped.
Andrew got a great roundkick up to Paul's neck which, had it been harder, would have caused a KO, and Paul smacked Andrew's legs and got off some slick punches.
When Andrew dropped his hands, the ultra-aggressive Slowinski came in with a jaw-reconfiguring FOUR PUNCH combination that send Peck sprawled onto his stomach for the ten count.

JORDAN TAI KO STEVE DOUETT in round one

Wow... so quick and so powerful... a step up knee to the side of the head in the first round which Douett leaned into... his eyes rolled back and he went down... clean clean clean KO... devastating.

CHRIS CHRISOPOULIDIS DEF HIRIWA TERANGI by decision

FIGHT OF THE NIGHT!!!! One of the all time great bangfests and packed full of controversy.
Chris OWNED Hiriwa from the opening, taking it to Hiriwa with leg kicks which Hiriwa had no answers for. Hiriwa should have been DQ'd for a late blow on the break which floored Chris but wasn't, and several times should have been counted for turning his back on Chris... some terrible officiating... but wow, the crowd went beserk for this fight... if you can get the video - get it! Oh my, what a friggin slug fest!!! Chris's best fight ever!

CHOPPER CHAPMAN TKO ASHLEY WHITE second round?
Chopper looked HUUUUUUUGE but early on Ashley took it up to him with some wicked hookes, going for Chopper's jaw. Amazing how much punishment Ashley took -- enormous heart on him even though he was massively outsized and outexperienced by a Chopper who I have never seen this aggressive. It was scary to watch Chopper like this. HATS OFF TO ASHLEY... it seemed NO ONE ELSE in Oz wanted to take on Chopper but Ashley did it and took away a world of experience. Even Chopper tasted Ash's power and heart and said to me later, "That kid brought out the best in me!"

CHRIS JOHNSON vs AARON BOYES No contest
Shot to the groin early on Johnson

MITCH O'HELLO KO SIO VITALE
Big Mitch looked in fiiiine form... step up knees to the midsection set up his big hands... chose every shot well, rocked Sio constantly, owned him from the opening. Sio did land a massive overhand right which rocked Mitch, but this was Mitch a la the Oceania... pumped and pounding.

PAULA MATAELE KO'd DARREN BERRY 49seconds
Paula is the next big thing they are building in NZ... former pro boxer with the Tua camp, he is like 6'6" and looks like a young Cassius Clay... he took a head kick to the face from Berry and stood up to it and took tw solid leg kicks in his stride... KO'd berry with short range punch to temple.

FINAL SCORE 3 - 3 - - A DRAW

Well done Dixon McIver for the best promotion outside of Japan!
Well done TEAM AUSTRALIA, you did us all proud!
